Nigeria's longest running film festival,The Abuja International Film Festival is expected to transform the creative talents of young budding movie makers in the country.
The Founder of Abuja International Film Festival (AIFF), Mr. Fidelis Duker,
informs that the objective of the festival is to offer a contemporary
and liberal platform for world filmmakers to exhibit the excellence of
filmmaking, noting, “The vision of AIFF is to build capacity within the
filmic genre and also act as a catalyzing platform for economic
empowerment of those working in the creative sector. especially concerned with
providing film-goers and cineastes the opportunity to see works that
would otherwise never screen in Nigeria or Abuja
Every year, the festival avails young filmmakers the opportunity to better their approach to filmmaking, where invaluable professional training is given to them at no cost to their pocket.
At the 2017 edition of AIFF,the festival trained young Nigerians in the basics of Canon DSLR
filmmaking techniques and photography and this was done in conjunction with Canon
Central and North Africa office.
While for this year's edition, a lot of young filmmakers in Nigeria are gearing up see what AIFF 2018 has in store for them but be that as it may, they can be sure to expect a quality event hosted by time tested movie professionals from countries across the globe.
AIFF is today the longest running Anglophone film festival in West
Africa. It is also an officially sanctioned qualifying festival for both
narrative and documentary short subjects.
AIFF is presented
annually by NAFIFO Ventures and over 100 films are screened annually at
the Silvebird Cinema in different genres (FEATURES, SHORT,
DOCUMENTARIES, ANIMATIONS, SHORTS, EXPERIMENTAL).
Entries for this year's edition opened
on 1st of March 2018 and will close on 30th July 2018. The
Festival will hold from 9th to 13th October, 2018 at the Silverbird
Cinemas Abuja Nigeria
