French forward, Kylian Mbappe and 40 other young players have been shortlisted for 2018 Golden Boy Award.
The
award, presented to the best young player under age 21, has been
organised by Italian sports newspaper, Tuttosort, since 2003.
Mbappe is hoping to become the first-ever two-time winner, having won the award last year.
The
19-year-old is favourite for the prize, after scoring 21 goals for PSG
last season and playing a key role for France at the World Cup, in which
he was named FIFA’s Best Young Player.
Other names on the list
include, Borussia Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic, Celtic’s Odsonne
Edouard, Ajax defender; Matthijs de Ligt, and Roma’s Justin Kluivert.
Four
English Premier League players were nominated. They are: Liverpool
starlet, Trent Alexander-Arnold; Everton’s Tom Davies; Manchester City
whizkid, Phil Foden; and Manchester United’s new signing, Diego Dalot.
Past winners include, Wayne Rooney, Lionel Messi, Paul Pogba and Raheem Sterling.
