Femi
Fani-Kayode, a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party and a former aviation
minister, has issued a statement congratulating Prince Uche Secondus, the newly
elected national chairman of the PDP.
In
an e-mail to The Trent on Sunday, December 10, 2017, Chief Fani-Kayode
also commended former President Goodluck Jonathan, Vice President Abubakar
Atiku, and the out-going national caretaker committee chairman of the PDP,
Senator Ahmed Makarfi for their inspiring speeches at the PDP National
Convention on Saturday.
Congratulations
to my friend and brother Prince Uche Secondus, the newly-elected National
Chairman of our great party the PDP, and to all our other newly-elected party
officials,” Fani-Kayode said.
“I
also commend and congratulate President Goodluck Jonathan, Vice President
Abubakar Atiku, Senator Ahmed Makarfi and others on their profound and
inspiring speeches at the convention.”
Prince
Uche Secondus, a former acting national chairman of PDP, garnered 2,000 votes as
against the 230 votes by his closest rival, former minister of education, Prof.
Tunde Adeniran.
The
two-time minister also described the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC
government as a “vicious, corrupt, deceitful” entity who has “persecuted,
marginalised, humiliated, demonised, massacred and pauperised” Nigerians
and called for the PDP to unite to remove the Buhari regime in 2019.
“We
must now all set aside our differences and prepare to face the monumental
challenge that lay ahead. We must be ready and prepared to fight for a greater
cause and to stand against against a vicious, corrupt, deceitful, relentless
and rapacious enemy that has divided our country, that has destroyed our
economy and that has persecuted, marginalised, humiliated, demonised,
massacred and pauperised our people.
“Together
we shall ‘change the change’ and ‘burn the brooms’ in 2019,” he wrote.
“Together
we shall raise the PDP flag in every part of this nation and send Buhari and
his evil APC government back to hell where they came from,” he ended his
statement.
