OIC rejects Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital

The Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) has declared East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine countering the declaration made by President Donald Trump.
The US president in what was considered controversial recognized Jerusalem as capital of Israel. According to Aljazeera, the extraordinary OIC summit was called for by Turkish President Recep Tayyip on Wednesday, December 13, who criticized Trump’s decision.
The group called on all countries to "recognize the State of Palestine and East Jerusalem as its occupied capital.
" It said its 57 member countries were committed to a "just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution".
It said: "[We] consider that this dangerous declaration, which aims to change the legal status of the [city], is null and void and lacks any legitimacy.” Erdogan said:
"It is null and void … except Israel, no country in the world has supported [this decision]. "Anyone who walks a few minutes in the streets of Jerusalem will recognize this city is under occupation.
An angry mob of at least 3,000 people could be seen burning Israeli flags and stamped on posters of Trump in protests across Palestinian territories.
A Palestinian man was shot dead on Friday, December 8, near Gaza. The killing was an offshoot of the present protests over Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
The Israeli military said hundreds of Palestinians were rolling burning tyres and throwing rocks at soldiers across the border.
