Estate Agent, in court, over N7.8m theft, from Diamond Bank



A Real estate ‎agent Ige Ajayi who allegedly stole the sum of N7.8million from a Diamond Bank Plc, was Wednesday docked before an Igbosere Magistrate's Court Lagos. 
Ajayi  57, is standing trial on a‎ two count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing preferred against him by the Police. 

The defendant who resides at 14 Yemi Adebayo Street Ilesan Lekki Lagos, was arraigned before Magistrate Abimbola Komolafe. 
The prosecutor ‎Sergeant Tubi Olajide told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence on January 5, 2017, at about 3:30pm. 
He said the incident occurred ‎at Diamond Bank Plc Annex Headquarter Elegushi Lekki Lagos, in Eti-Osa local government area. 
Olajide said that the ‎defendant conspired with others who are still at large to commit the alleged offence. 
The prosecutor said that the money that was stolen ‎belongs to a customer of the bank one Chibunna Osbonna. 
According to him the offence committed is punishable under Section 409 and 285 (9) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.
However the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.
Consequently Magistrate Komolafe granted the defendant bail in the sum of N5million, with two sureties in like sum, who must have landed properties in Lagos. 
She also ordered that the sureties must show evidence of three years tax clearance payment to Lagos state government and their addresses verified.
The case was adjourned till January 31, for mention.
